There is plenty of information on the history of the Texas Rangers, but one of the best is Lone Star Justice: The First Century of the Texas Rangers by Robert M. Utley. For more on Rangers in the 20th century, check out his second volume: Lone Star Lawmen: The Second Century of the Texas Rangers.
In addition, we relied, as usual, on the Handbook of Texas, and combed the website for the Texas Ranger Hall of Fame & Museum.
